Singer-songwriter Helen White recently released her second cut Midnight Sun (December 2010), a selection of jazz classics to complement her 'poppy' No (More) Dinosaur Bones (2009). Both releases celebrate an exciting diversity of influences and were eagerly enjoyed by live audiences in Winnipeg and beyond. Helen has been very busy recently: playing gigs across Winnipeg and at The Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie to packed houses. The infectious buzz generated has led to a plethora of gigs promoting her CDs and freshly written material, a smorgasbord from Brit-pop to pure swingin' jazz for all the cool cats.

In addition to her work as a producer and engineer on some new local releases, Helen has continued to teach voice at Quest Musique, Portage Conservatory of Music, and directs the Winnipeg Downtown Vocal Jazz Choir. The choir most recently performed at the Music n' Mavens series of concerts. She continues to promote local talent, arranging gigs for her students across the city and in Portage. This summer she will be on faculty at the International Music Camp in North Dakota.

Helen studied electro-acoustic music, jazz and sound-technology in Cambridge (UK) and USA before completing her M.Mus in Performance in Canada. She had performed across three countries in a variety of styles and playing several instruments, most notably at the Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Music n' Mavens and the Mardi Jazz Series.

In her 'spare' time she is a mother of three crazy and bouncy children under five years old and the wife of a writer and poet!

Good times! - Thankyou to everyone who came out to support the CD Launch with Helen White & Friends.

Helen would like to continue raising money for the Musicians' Benevolent Fund http://www.mbf.org.uk/ throughout 2010. She will be setting aside 25% of all CD sales in 2010 for the charity. At the end of the year, she will forward the proceeds. We'll keep you posted!
